After a teaser video briefly appeared on YouTube yesterday, Motorola has now unveiled the Milestone 2, a GSM version of the Droid 2. As expected, the Milestone 2 packs a 1Ghz OMAP processor, 512MB of RAM and connects to the web through HSPA-based 3G or 802.11n Wi-Fi. Taking full advantage of its Android 2.2 OS, the device will also act as a 3G mobile hotspot, supporting up to five other Wi-Fi devices. Additional connectivity includes DLNA media sharing and Bluetooth 2.1.
There is 8GB of built-in memory, and an 8GB microSDHC memory card will also be bundled with the handset with support for up to 40GB of memory. The 3.7-inch, 854x480 display remains intact, as does a revamped horizontal QWERTY keyboard. It includes support for mobile Flash Player 10.1, and its five-megapixel dual LED flash camera is capable of 720p HD videos. It will also play video in 720p as well.
While pricing is yet to be announced, the Milestone 2 is now confirmed to reach Europe in the fall and will likely reach North America through a Canadian carrier.
