我们都知道电视,报纸,杂志是我们获得信息的三种渠道。它们很大程度上满足了我们生活合工作的需要。那么这三种媒介各自的优缺点在哪里呢?
TV vs. the Print Media
TV seems to enjoy even greater popularity than before. Some people claim that TV has already dominated the media with its great impact upon the public; others even predict that in the future, TV will replace the print media. But when we closely look at the respective features of both forms of media, the conclusion might not be the same.
The print media, i.e. newspapers and magazines have the advantage of being selected and reviewed in greater detail than the contents on TV. It is true that TV appeals to its audience with its animation of motion, colors and sounds, they vanish from the screen instantly and viewers who want to review them have to resort to recorders. Also, audiences do not have the choice to select, or to scan. Newspapers and magazines, on the other hand, are convenient to be reread and examined in great detail when necessary or to be skimmed for particular details, or scanned for main idea. What is more, the collection of the print content is at your fingertip.
Another advantage the print media holds over TV is its convenience offered to its mobile readers. While it is impossible to carry a TV wherever and whenever you travel, it is always considered practical to carry newspaper or magazines with you. It is common and unchanged scene in any public place of the world that people engage in reading newspapers or flipping through magazines while awaiting services or on their journey to certain planned destination.
The third advantage of the print media over TV is its educational benefits offered to its readers. Many people find that through keeping reading articles in newspapers and magazines, they become more literate. The written world has its own attraction with vivid expressions of idioms and beautifully structured sentences, with its insightful comments on controversial issues and unforgettable description of people and events. This advantage alone draws large group of readers, especially well-educated people, young and old.
Admittedly, TV reaches large scope of audience with its advantages of presenting attractive images and relatively being more entertaining and easier to understand. But from the analysis of the unique characteristics of the print media, it is clear that some of its advantages far outweigh the advantages of TV. Therefore, it is right to conclude that the print media will not be replaced by TV. Not is it possible that TV will play an increasingly dominant role in the media in 'terms of influence on the public. 【已有很多网友发表了看法,点击参与讨论】【对英语不懂,点击提问】【英语论坛】【返回首页】
