China´s stock market suffers biggest drop in 10 years
China's main stock index closed Friday with a weekly loss of 8 percent, the biggest drop in ten years.
Investors retreated from the market because of concerns about a possible tightening policy and a heavy supply of new shares.
On Thursday the Shanghai Composite Index plunged nearly 5 percent -- its largest daily drop in four months. Turnover in Shanghai A shares was 80 billion yuan, the lowest for nearly 15 weeks.
Corporate profit growth is expected to slow but remain strong, and though securities authorities have been seeking to cool the market, they do not want to cause a crash.
