EU:China makes progress in product safety

The EU says China has made considerable progress in taking steps to ensure the safety of toys and other products exported to Europe.

The EU consumer chief says an EU overview of China's efforts show authorities have made a significant effort with enforcement actions it has taken as a follow-up to an EU-wide rapid alert system or RAPEX notifications, of dangerous consumer goods.

Meglena Kuneva, EU Commissioner of Prot'n，said，"So far, I have to say that the cooperation on the side of the Chinese authorities not to let these products to leave the country is one of the encouraging signals. But I will not say to the national authorities 'stop doing your surveillance'."
