Inflatable art on show in NY subways
Underneath New York's streets, a subway train passes, and the bag suddenly morphs into the shape of a giraffe. It's the latest, ephemeral New York City art installation.
The installation is the brainchild of artist, Joshua Allen Harris. He's dotted blowups of bears and other animals around the city's subway grates. Harris has to seek out grates that have enough air emerging, to bring his creations to life. He says he wasn't influenced by 'that' famous fifties image of Marilyn Monroe standing above a grating with her dress blowing up.
Harris says more of his creations will be coming to the pavements of the city. But he needs to find the time to install and observe them.
