Children´s shoes to protest Iraq war

Anti-war demonstrators in New York Thursday used children's shoes to represent dead Iraqi children. The protest came on the same day U.S. President George W. Bush held out the prospect of further troop reductions in Iraq later this year. One New Yorker at the demonstration believes the timing of his comments were politically motivated in an election year.

Elice Higginbotham said, "I suspect that President Bush maybe talking about troop withdrawal because he knows it is what the country wants to hear and maybe because he wants to get the jump on the other party in an election year that is talking about troop withdrawal and try to make it sound as if he or the Republican party already are thinking about that and they are winding the war down."
