NBS: China´s GDP growth to reach 11.5% in 2007
The Chinese economy will grow by around 11.5 percent in 2007, China's statistics chief said on Friday.
Xie Fuzhan, commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics also said consumer price index will hit 4.5 to 4.6 percent, and monthly growth of around 6 percent year-on-year might continue for a period, pushed up by rising food and oil prices.
Xie's growth forecast matches one given by Premier Wen Jiabao during a trip to Singapore earlier this week.
Xie also said China needs to use fiscal and currency policy to cool growth and bring it back down to a reasonable zone of around 10 percent. But it was still entirely possible that GDP growth could continue at 7 to 8 percent for another 10 years.
