Canada's parliament has unanimously passed a motion calling on Japan to apologize to foreign women forced into military brothels during World War II.

Four women from South Korea, the Philippines, China and the Netherlands came to Canada to attend Wednesday's hearing. It's estimated over 200,000 women were systematically forced into prostitution.

The motion says Japan must take full responsibility for the involvement of the Japanese Imperial Forces, and Japan should offer a formal and sincere apology expressed in the Diet to all victims.

The US Congress and the Lower House in the Netherlands passed similar motions earlier this year.
