Hong Kong celebrates rail transport merger
Hong Kong has celebrated the opening of the Nam Cheong subway station marking the merger of the Mass Transit Railway and Kowloon-Canton Railways.
The new Hong Kong Railway Corporation has a network of over 200 kilometers, with nine routes and 82 stations. It links Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories and the Mainland.
Some 150,000 signs, including route maps and notice boards, will be changed within five weeks. Station names, route maps, and all signs at four transfer stations have already been changed.
