Hong Kong welcomes New Year

Tens of thousands of spectators have flocked to both sides of Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong to watch the New Year Eve's countdown.

Hong Kong Chief Executive, Donald Tsang, officiated to launch the ceremony. Hong Kong's tallest landmark, Two International Finance Center, was the focus of the dazzling extravaganza of lights and pyrotechnics.

Fireworks spelled out "2008", to express locals' eagerness for the new year, and the coming Olympics.
