Beijing raises retirement pensions

A 200-yuan top-up will bring pensions to an average of 1,580 yuan per person per month. But there is a bias towards older retirees, or those who gave more in terms of expertise during their working years. For this group, they will get even more than the extra 200 yuan.

The pension hike is the largest in recent years, and will mean an additional 4 billion yuan having to be paid out of the city's budget.
