Forecasters prepare for Olympics
A senior meteorological official says that China is meticulously preparing its weather service for the Beijing Olympics.
Deputy Director of the China Meteorological Administration Xu Xiaofeng said preparations started as soon as Beijing won the bid.
Foreign experts were invited to check out the Olympic weather service.
In the capital, more Doppler radar and automatic observation stations have been installed to monitor the atmosphere.
And for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, experts are making contingency plans for possible bad weather and how best to handle it.
