Gold futures set record high above $900
NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Gold futures briefly rose above 900 U.S. dollars an ounce Friday, setting an all time high amid U.S. economic recession fears.
An ounce of gold for February delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 6.50 dollars to 900.10 dollars an ounce in morning trading.
The contract pulled back later to 898 dollars an ounce, up 4.40dollars compared with the previous day.
Silver for March delivery traded flat at 16.280 dollars an ounce, while March copper rose 2.3 cents to 3.3045 dollars a pound.
