Winter storm aftermath hurts China

A spring drought is affecting over 15.8 million hectares of arable land in Northern China.

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has announced over the weekend, that the number of Chinese suffering drinking water shortages in Northern China has reached close to 6 million people, more than double in less than a week.

Meanwhile, in south and east China, freezing temperatures and heavy snow hit 11 million hectares of arable land. It's estimated that, there are nearly one fifth of China's farming acreage that have been affected either by winter disaster or drought.
