China opposes Canada´s anti-dumping policy

Chinese authorities are expressing strong opposition to Canada's partial decision to impose anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on Chinese-made seamless carbon or alloy steel oil, as well as well-casing pipes.

Canada began a probe into imports of seamless casing pipes last July. Last month saw the Canadian International Trade Tribunal reach a partial decision that Chinese producers had been subsidized by the government, adding that it considered the Chinese industry non-market-oriented.

But China is refuting this, saying that evidence shows that the casing pipe industry is a highly competitive one and that the Chinese government did not interfere in daily operations and price setting decisions.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has yet to make a final decision. But China says it hopes the Tribunal will be fair adding also that it will keep a close eye on proceedings and take relevant measures to protect the interests of Chinese enterprises.
