Donated tents distributed in Sichuan

The massive earthquake in southwestern China's Sichuan Province has captured the public's attention. Relief materials are pouring into the quake-hit areas through donations.

Donations were quickly handled and dispatched to those in need once they arrived at the department.

It's been busy here at the Sichuan provincial civil affairs department since the earthquake struck last week. Tents top the priority of essentials for quake victims in the province. Donations were quickly handled and dispatched to those in need once they arrived at the department. One donor from the eastern province of Zhejiang spoke about the smooth procedure involved.

One donor from Zhejiang province said "The tents arrived at Sichuan provincial civil affairs department at around six o'clock in the morning. Staff there continued working, and handled our donation immediately. It went smoothly. There was only a hand-over procedure. We will keep donating if necessary."

Provincial civil affairs department staff accepted this batch of tents and gave an invoice to the donor. Distribution workers in Dujiangyan City carried the relief materials to a relocation site. It had been reported that a few more tents were needed here. Three medium-sized tents were thus handed out. One of them is being used as a section of a temporary clinic.

One clinic doctor said "This batch of tents came just in time. We thank the donors for their support."

Distribution staff then transported the remaining tents to another relocation site.

Hu Daiguo, relocation site manager said "This site occupies an area of over 70,000 square meters. And nearly two thousand homeless are expected to be relocated here. We are in urgent need of tents. And this batch of tents can ease the pressure on us."

In less than half a day, this batch of tents had all been given out in Dujiangyan City.
