President Hu: People´s safety comes first

President Hu Jintao has stressed that efforts to contain the Tangjiashan barrier lake must be given top priority for the sake of people's safety.

He made the remarks on Tuesday during a phone call with Vice premier Hui Liangyu, who's directing relief efforts in Sichuan Province.

Meanwhile, Premier Wen Jiabao says the interests of ordinary people must come first, as rescuers work to reduce the threat of further disasters.
