Relief continues in remote villages
Relief efforts have now reached nearly all remote villages in the disaster area. Soldiers and rescue workers are helping locals get their lives back together.
The quake flattened Ganbao village in Lixian county of Sichuan's Aba prefecture, the Ganbao village was badly hit in the earthquake.
The village is home to some 800, most of whom are ethnic Tibetans. Road access is still blocked, so helicopters bring in relief aid. With food, tents, and TV sets, villagers are regaining confidence in rebuilding their homeland.
Taolong village in Beichuan county is home to another Tibetan community. Roads here have also been destroyed, and most survivors are living scattered across the mountains. PLA soldiers travel across the area to bring them basic supplies like food and medicine.
In Fujiang village in Wuping county, the first prefab settlement is ready for occupancy. Workers had cleared the roads only a couple of days before, and an army mobile hospital has moved in.
