U.S. regrets incident that kills Pakistani soldiers

The US-led coalition says it retaliated after its forces came under fire about 200 meters inside Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province.

The coalition says the incident occurred during an operation that had previously been coordinated with Pakistan. It says the coalition fired artillery and then used drones to locate more anti-Afghan forces and launched airstrikes until the threat was eliminated. T

he Assistant US Secretary of State for South Asia, says the incident is regrettable.

The Assistant US Secretary of State for South Asia Richard Boucher said, "First thing to say it is very regrettable, we don't like to see this thing happen. It is particularly sad to see Pakistani military die, Pakistani military have been partners with us in the war on terror they have lost too many people themselves to the terrorists and it is just very sad to see that they somehow got killed in this incident."
