SEF delegation arrives in beijing

A delegation headed by Jiang Bin-kun, chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation, has arrived in Beijing. The delegation is set to attend talks with the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait, or ARATS. This will be the first meeting between the two groups since talks were broken off 9 years ago.

ARATS Executive Vice Chairman Zheng Lizhong greeted Jiang and other delegates at the airport. ARATS chairman Chen Yunlin is scheduled to meet with Jiang on Thursday morning. The two sides will then hold talks on cross-strait weekend charter flights and mainland tourist travel to Taiwan.
