President Hu inspects Beijing transport facilities
Chinese President Hu Jintao spent Wednesday inspecting transport preparations for the upcoming Summer Olympics. The president wants transport facilities and services to meet the high demands of the Games and the people.
The President's first stop was Beijing South Railway Station. It is the new terminal for express lines bound for the coastal city of Tianjin and the economic hub of Shanghai.
The station has completed testing and will be ready for passengers at the beginning of August. Advanced technologies and energy-saving design have been applied here.
Hu Jintao took a trial ride on the recently-finished express railway between Beijing and Tianjin. The railway is China's first that supports speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, cut travel time between the two cities to 30 minutes. 【已有很多网友发表了看法,点击参与讨论】【对英语不懂,点击提问】【英语论坛】【返回首页】
