New tourism route launched in China

China's tourism industry is working on a new route which expands to the remote cities across the country. Experts say this shows the industry's transition from traditional sightseeing routes to regional and cultural routes.

The four cities reflect vastly different geographies and cultures.Sanya in Hainan province is the southernmost city and offers exotic and tropical attractions. Kashi in Xinjiang used to be one of the most important stops on the ancient silk road in the West. The far eastern city of Fuyuan and northern city Mohe are both in Heilongjiang province. The two places are extremely cold in winter, since they are close to Russia's Siberia region.

Tourism industry officials say the geographic diversity of China provides good potential for new routes to meet the shifting demands of tourists.
