Beijing to open city tour bus lines
According to China Central Television (CCTV), Beijing will open two city tour bus lines for the first time on July 20. The bus will adopt a Chinese-English bilingual video system which gives tourists a presentation of the customs and scenes of this historical city, as well as information about Olympic venues.
In the beginning, a total of 20 buses will be put into operation, running at designated intervals of 5-10 minutes.
Line 1 features the custom and scenes of ancient Beijing, running from Beijing's South Railway Station to Beigongting. Along the 18.1-km route, tourists can visit the Temple of Heaven, Qianmen Dazhalan, Tiananmen Square, Jingshan Park, the Forbidden City, Shichahai Lake, Gulou (the Drum Tower) and Lama Temple, which fully reflect the cultural landscape of the ancient capital.
Line 2, which is highlighted by Olympic venues, begins at Huizhongli and runs to Beigongting with a total length of 16.25 km. Passengers on Line 2 can visit major Olympic venues and facilities, such as the Beijing Olympic Green, Bird's Nest (the National Stadium), Water Cube (the National Aquatics Center), National Indoor Stadium, and National Olympic Sports Center.
