China's gross domestic product is expected to rise by 10.2  percent in the third quarter

The forecast came in a report issued by the National Information Center Friday. The report also predicts the consumer price index in the third quarter will rise by 6.6 percent. That's a drop of 1.3 percentage points from the first half of the year.

The report says the national economy will grow steadily and price increases will tend to slow. The National Information Center suggests local governments should help enterprises to absorb price rises by reducing taxes and charges, and by encouraging technological improvement.
