College student music festival wraps up

So who are hot musicians on college campuses in China? Check out the awards ceremony at the First College Student Music Festival. The event, Monday night, made 19 awards based on votes by students at a hundred universities and colleges across the country.

Favorite Newcomer of the Year is Huang Xiaoming, and he got the award on his birthday. Presenting the awards was director Zhang Jizhong. Huang also walked away with the Stylish Artist of the Year award along with actress Liu Yifei.

Hong Kong's pop duo "Twins" grabbed the Favorite Group Award.

Eason Chan's "Love Calling", was crowned, "Golden Melody of Karaoke." Taiwan's pop king Jay Chou pocketed two heavyweight awards - Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Pop Album. Chen and Chou didn't attend the ceremony. Both had concert dates; Chan in Hong Kong; Chou in Taiwan. Their delegates at the ceremony expressed thanks on their behalf.

The Favorite Producer award went to veteran musician Xiao Ke. He was the man behind many of the popular ballads that swept across campuses. He accepted the award from Gao Xiaosong, who was the producer of Xiao Ke's debut album. Gao himself produced many campus ballads and was given the Campus Music Contribution Award.
