CJ7 is inspired from director Steven Spielberg's classic "E.T, The Extra-Terrestrial". Chow plays a poor father who can't afford to buy his son toys. But he finds a space creature in the garbage dump, and brings it into their lives. In the film, Chow's son is actually played by a 10 year old actress, Xu Jiao -- a young girl from Ningbo in eastern China. She was chosen for the role because Steven Chow was struck by how much she resembled him when he was a child.
Chow is well known for his whimsical comedy and his movies have been box office hits since early 90's. His two latest films - 2001's "Shaolin Soccer" and 2004's "Kung Fu Hustle" both broke Hong Kong blockbuster records.
In the Chinese movie market, historical epics like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "Hero," "The Banquet," and most recently "The Warlord" dominate the theaters. So "CJ7" is a rare entry into the movie field. 【已有很多网友发表了看法,点击参与讨论】【对英语不懂,点击提问】【英语论坛】【返回首页】
