China improves school safety

China's Ministry of Education wants local authorities to improve safety ahead of the new school semester. The Ministry says efforts should be concentrated on eliminating any dangers due to the severe winter weather.

The Ministry is also warning that melting snow in mountainous regions could lead to landslides or other dangers. Schools located in those areas should consider postponing the new term.

 That Ministry adds that buildings damaged or partially collapsed during the snowstorm must not be used as schools. It also wants school buses to stay off icy roads.
