Guyihuan Garden, is one of the finest examples of ancient landscaping in the city. Sightseers come to feel overwhelmed by the scenic gardens and by the exotic lanterns. Amidst the plum blossoms, visitors come to enjoy the lanterns numbering in the hundreds. All were created by the country's top artists in the field. The themes are ancient legends, folk culture, and the Beijing Olympic Games. Riddles that accompany each lamp provide unexpected challenges for the viewers.

Capturing the greatest amount of attention are a group of lanterns made in the neighbouring Suzhou city. These created a huge sensation when exhibited in Montreal, Canada. The lanterns feature designs of Chinese zodiac animals and auspicious symbols from traditional Chinese culture.
