Olympic torch leaves Xinjiang for Tibet

(BEIJING, June 19) – Crowds of people showed their support for the Olympic torch on Wednesday as it finished its tour of Changji, the fourth and last stop in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The Olympic Torch Relay will continue in Lhasa, Southwestern Tibet Autonomous Region, on Saturday.

Ma Kexiang was the last torchbearer in Changji, lighting the cauldron at Asia Center Square at the end of relay.

The torch relay, involving 104 torch carriers and covering a distance of 4.4 km, was warmly welcomed by traditional dances from the local people.
