Who's the Boss of My Youth takes an acute and realistic look at clashes in communication between child and parent. The television series targets a wider audience than the 2007 Striving. That series secured Zhao's standing among young viewers. Zhao says many of the issues addressed in the series are highly topical among youth and their parents today. The TV series invites all members of the family to become engaged in the emotional entanglements of sense and sensibility.
