Male actor Julien Derouault |
Julien Derouault, dancer, said, "For the Olympics, body can perform and beat records at the stadiums, and I say body can express more feelings and violence and express all the human colors."
This drama differs from the original story as we see Marco Polo finding true love at the end of his journey. The creators say the aim is to convey a message of universal love, the necessity of communication and dialogue. The Chinese music elements in the show reflect Pierre Cardin's affection for China. He arranged the financing for the three years of preparations.

Female actress Marie-Claude Pietragalla |
Marie-Claude Pietragalla, dancer, said, " Now I'm very happy, because it's a long long way for three years. The dancers are very happy, you know it's the lives of the artists, we are very nervous for the first show, and now we are free."
The show is presented by France's Pietragalla dance company. It will be performed in 6 other cities in China before its global tour.
Mr. Cardin made a comparison between Marco Polo's epic travels and an athlete's road to Olympic glory. Marco Polo overcame great difficulties to realize his dream, much like an athlete must endure hardships before victory. Although Marco Polo lived 700 years ago, the spirit of pursuing dreams remains the same.
