注解：
talk意指讲话，through意指通过，hat意指帽子；to talk through one’s hat源自1988年纽约一家报纸登载的一幅漫画，该漫画讽刺当时正在竞选总统的本杰明•哈里森。哈里森经常戴一顶很高的帽子，所以漫画家将其帽子夸张了一下，连他的脸都给罩住了。漫画下的注解说，哈里森发表竞选演说时是透过他的帽子向公众讲话的。讽喻他在那胡说八道，从而该俚语指胡乱叫嚣

throw the baby out with the bath water
[俗]亏本，得不偿失

I don’t want to sell the house. Although it is old and broken, it is a his toric spot. If I sold it, all members of my family would blame me, so I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water.
