演唱者Jazmine Sullivan，出生并成长与宾夕法尼亚州的费城。家中有一哥哥和一个弟弟。她的母亲是费城唱片公司的后备歌手。Jazmine小的时候就参加了唱诗班，之后有参加了成人唱诗班，导致最开始的时候接触非宗教类的音乐很受到限制。直到后来有机会参加麦当劳的一个选秀，她演唱了'Accept What God Allows'并且得到了很好的反响。到了她16岁的时候，她签约于Jive Records唱片公司但一直并不理想，所以离开唱片公司，并开始自己写歌。直到2008年她的个人专辑《fearless》的问世，奠定了她在歌坛的位置。
