Ticket prices rise for tourist attractions

It's going to cost more to visit some of China's most famous tourist attractions. Ticket-prices are going up as travellers head out in warmer weather. But those going through travel agents will not need to pay quite as much.

Some of the country's most famous tourist attractions are upping their entrance fees, as they anticipate more tourists later in Spring. For example, the tickets for one attraction at Huangshan Mountain have gone up from 65 to 80 yuan, while the entrance fee for Jiuhuashan Mountain has been pushed up from 140 to 200 yuan. But some travel agencies are saying they will not be raising the prices of their package deals by very much. And this is because agencies pay less when they buy the same tickets from these tourist sites.

Tian Ling, GM of Domestic Travel Department of CYTS Tours said "We won't raise our prices for package tours by very much, because we get a good price from the tourist attractions."

Industry experts say southern provinces which have suffered enormous economic losses over the recent severe winter are going through a period of renewal. And that they're likely to boost promotion to bring in more tourists.
