Olympic budget sees minor surplus
The executive Vice-president of the organizing committee for the Beijing Games is reporting a minor surplus in the budget set aside for the Olympics.
Direct investment in the Games stands at several tens of billions of yuan, and comes from marketing revenues, rather than government funding. The central as well as local governments have not invested directly in the Olympics. But they've lent support, in the form of lower taxes and fees.
Beijing authorities have also helped by investing in projects to improve overall facilities as well as the environment.
