Zhou Yongkang arrives in quake-affected area

Despite the the dangers of landslides and aftershocks, Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, arrived in Gaoping Village in Majie Township of Gansu Province on Friday.
In the village, 31 of the 75 rural homes were destroyed, and the rest were damaged. Zhou Yongkang visited survivors living in tents and encouraged the villagers to be confident and try to rise above the difficulties. He said the Party Central Committee and the State Council are concerned about the affected people, and are making disaster relief their top priority.
On Friday afternoon, Zhou arrived at Hejiaping Village. He told the villagers the government is striving to help the people, guarantee their lives and property, and solve the various problems. He also talked with the injured in a hospital, urging medical staff to overcome hardships and fatigue in their work.
