Sinopec resumes production in Sichuan

Sinopec has resumed production at 97 percent of the gas wells in Sichuan which were shut down by the massive earthquake two weeks ago. Asia's largest refiner is operating at full capacity despite losing about 3-thousand yuan for each tonne of gasoline and diesel that it produces.

The refiner is being squeezed by high global costs of crude oil and state-set price caps on refined products. But industry officials have said the government will share the cost with oil companies by giving them financial aid such as tax rebates.
