Abbas calls for national dialogue with Hamas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is trying to kickstart national dialogue among all Palestinian political factions and parties including Hamas.

Abbas called for national dialogue to implement the Yemeni initiative in all its elements to end the internal division that harms the people.

Abbas says if talks succeed, he will call for new legislative and presidential elections. Hamas immediately welcomed Abbas' offer, saying it should be without preconditions.
