Bush meets Olmert in Oval Office

US President George W. Bush has met Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in the Oval Office.

They discussed Syria's influence in Lebanon and the Israeli government's attempts to negotiate peace with the Palestinians. Iran's nuclear issue was also on the agenda.

But there was no mention of Olmert's deteriorating political situation back home. His popularity has been plunging because of a new corruption scandal.
