"Mummy" comes to China
Filming for the third installment of "The Mummy" franchise wrapped up Wednesday, in Shanghai. Director Rob Cohen led his cast, including Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, John Hannah and Isabella Leong to meet the media.
Stars headed straight from shooting to attend the press conference in Shanghai. They were still in make-up and costumes as they fielded questions from reporters.
In "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", the action takes place in an ancient tomb guarded by thousands of terra cotta warriors. It draws inspiration from the tomb of Emperor Qin in northwest China's Shaanxi province. Director Cohen recreated the Chinese wonder, though his terra cotta warriors were armed with weapons.
Action stars Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh were also featured in the film. They wrapped up their parts earlier and were already off to work on other projects. Hong Kong actress Isebella Leong stole much of the limelight. In the film she plays the part of an assassin. She said she was grateful for the opportunity to play the role.
Isebella Leong said, "It's quite an honor for me. I was very happy to work with a big name director and outstanding actors. I've learned so much from them."
"The Mummy 3" aims for a July 24th, premiere in Beijing. The US release will come a week later.
