Movie "Call for Destiny" premieres
On the heels of the successful "Love Calling", the film's sequel "Call for Destiny" has met its audience. The premiere was in Beijing, Thursday.
The lead actors did not attend the premiere. But Jay Chow, who sings the theme song brought the occasion to life single-handedly.
He also sang the theme song from the film titled, "Rainbow" alternating vocals with fans.
"Call For Destiny" unfolds in four chapters. The chapters are titled, Misunderstanding, Joyous Song of Life, Mountain Area, and Mountain Disaster. Each is the work of a different director. Obviously Jay Chow favored the second part Joyous Song of Life. Its stars Fan Bingbing and Wang Xuebing. He revealed the source of his inspiration for the lyrics.
Jay Chow said, "It's coincidence. I saw some meteors flying across the sky, and made a wish. Then I turned and wrote the lyrics."
The tune "Rainbow" extended the style of the theme song for his own directorial debut "Secret". A verse of that song became his favorite. Then he expanded on the theme for "Rainbow".
Chow also took a moment to promote his new album "Cowboy is Busy" on the same day. "Rainbow" is part of the "Cowboy" collection and is the second hit to come off the album. On his promotional stop, Chow took on the role of bus ticket seller. But the first ticket, was to see "Call for Destiny".
Chow's next ambition is to write songs for the Beijing Olympics.
Jay Chow said, "I know a lot of musicians are doing it now. I have also been invited to write Olympic songs. Maybe it will not be used in the end, but I still feel very honored."
Chow's directorial debut earned acclaim from Zhang Yimou. Riding his current popularity Chow says he hopes his fans support more made in China films.
