Yu Guiying, Liu Zige's mother, said "I am so proud for my daughter. My girl finally stands on the world's highest level. All her dedication in these years has paid off. I hope she can hold on to her advantage in the world."

Liu Lihui, Liu Zige's father, said "I am very, very excited. My duaghter has earned honor for the country and people of her hometown. Well done!"

Liu Zige joined the Shanghai swimming team 4 years ago. Her teammates and coaches in Shanghai also enjoyed her moment of glory.

Ji Hong, deputy director of Shanghai swimming event center, said "She is really a hardworking girl. Can you believe that she doesn't even have a mobile phone or computer? All her time is spent on training."

Now, the hardworking girl has brought hope and excitement that China has been waiting for in the pool.
