Fire at Iranian chemical plant kills 15

TEHRAN, May 25 (Xinhua) -- A fire ripped through a chemical plant near Arak city of the western province of Mark, leaving 15 people killed and 40 others wounded, the semi-official Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday.

The fire broke out in the industrial district of Shazand town near Arak, 290 km southwest of Tehran, local officials was quoted as saying, adding that the injured were taken to hospitals in Arak.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
