UK PM Brown meets visiting Japan PM Fukuda

UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his visiting Japanese counterpart Yasuo Fukuda have met in London to discuss issues of common concern.

Speaking at a joint press conference on Monday, Brown said they agree that rising oil and commodity prices are global problems that require coordinated international action. Both leaders agreed there's a need to push oil producers to increase output in the wake of soaring oil prices.

They also say people in many countries are facing the challenge of keeping up with rising prices, especially for necessities such as transport, heating and food.

After visiting Britain, Fukuda will attend the Food and Agriculture Organization's food security conference in Rome.
